There are numerous benefits to writing. It is pretty much a trend topic right now, with everyone talking about “how they make thousands of dollars by writing”. But for most people, like you and me, writing will not earn us a single dollar.

And that’s okay. Because the major benefit of writing is not income. It is much more meaningful than that. Writing is meditation for your thoughts..

You may be wondering, “what the hell this guy is talking about?” but bear with me for a second. Think about the process of “thinking”. Try to find out what is best way to sharpen your thoughts.

Now we’re almost on the same page.

Writing makes your thoughts much more clear. It makes your notions to the point. With writing, you boil down your thoughts until it’s nothing but the core idea.

It sounds weird, I know but writing is the water equivalent of actions. Think about fluids. There are dozens of fluids, ranging from sweet to sour, hot to cold. However, there is one fluid that is much more concise, on the spot, satisfying than others. As you guessed it, it’s water.

Writing your thoughts down turns your “soda-like” notions to “water-fresh” points. You are not sure about making a decision? Write all possible decisions and outcomes down.

Writing also has a “purifying” effect, just like water. Your thoughts may be way too messy or complicated but writing will help you organize them.

This way of organizing your thoughts can also make you objective towards them. It can be hard to stay objective and not to choose sides in your head but it is easier on paper.

Conclusion

Despite not generating millions of dollars in revenue, writing is still a great habit for the rest of us mortals. Writing makes your thoughts concise, to the point, purifies them and makes you more objective towards them.
